Kaspersky® Open Space Security (KOSS) is a complete suite of business products that enables small and medium-sized businesses, as well as larger enterprises, to solve the growing security issues arising from today’s mobile and distributed workforce. KOSS includes protection for both network perimeters and all nodes on the network, regardless of location, type of device, or platform.

As part of the new Kaspersky Open Space multi-tiered security, the company is complementing both its gateway and mail server protection with the introduction of its newest generation of products - Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows Workstations, Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 for Windows File Servers and Kaspersky Administration Kit 6.0. Also being introduced is Kaspersky® Mobile Security for smart devices.

With laptops making up a growing percentage of corporate workstation purchases, along with the seemingly daily introduction of powerful new PDAs and smartphones, corporate computing has crossed over into undefined open space beyond the corporate firewall. KOSS is designed to provide flexible “follow me” security to this new dynamic nature of an ever-increasing mobile workforce while ensuring security both on and off the corporate network. KOSS provides full flexibility for setting policies for mobile and remote users to ensure maximum protection for laptops disconnected from the corporate network, prescribing the source and frequency of anti-malware updates, scanning schedules, personal firewall configuration and more. Cisco ® NAC (Network Admission Control) is also supported by KOSS, making it possible for computers to be checked during reconnection to the network after an absence. For instance, if an infected computer is detected, it is blocked from any network connection, enabling administrators to track down the source of the infection.

Version 6.0

KOSS is built upon the award-winning Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0 engine, first debuted in Q2 2006 with the introduction of Kaspersky’s 6.0 personal products. Version 6.0 brings powerful proactive protection to its already acclaimed signature-based protection, coupling both standard anti-malware hourly updates with an advanced warning system to guard against potential threats. This proactive protection can be especially important for users who have not had the opportunity to fully update their malware databases will being remote from the network.

Version 6.0 is built for accelerated system performance, requiring minimal space on any node to run robust protection.
